Recap: 8th Annual SE Shoot - Gay, GA

Big Red Oak Plantation; a beautiful course, a serene lake, a brand new picnic pavilion, and close to 140 registered shooters. What more could be said! We were joined by professional shooter Bill McGuire from Team Blaser and working the flurry was Brandon Powell from Team Krieghoff. Thanks to the efforts of all of our Brothers and Sisters in Organized Labor in Georgia, this event will net close to $45,000. The competition was fierce and scores were high, and Mr. Mac's BBQ was top shelf.

Special thanks to Lisa and Big Mike for another stellar event. Georgia is one of our favorite places to go!

See you on the course,

Recap: 3rd Annual Volunteer Shoot - Nashville, TN

It was a beautiful day in Tennessee. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, and clays were busting everywhere.  Country music artist Craig Campbell and new up-and-coming artist Jarred Pierce joined us at our 3rd annual Tennessee Shoot. Once again we shot at Montgomery County Shooting Complex and had authentic southern BBQ from Pat's Cafe. When all was said and done, it looks like this shoot will once again net $25,000.

Special thanks to Steve, Toni, and Merc.  Stay tuned for next year as we have a feeling that we will have more special guest stars to come!

Recap: 6th Annual Texas Shoot - Kerrville, TX

This year we renamed the Texas event in memory of our late brother and Labor champion Chad Young. Chad was instrumental in the recent success of the Texas event and this year was no exception, as we set a record for Texas - at the time of this writing we raised approximately $35,000 net!

Many thanks to all of our brothers and sisters in the Texas Labor movement, especially all of those Locals from UFCW Region 5. The food was great! The new course at Hill Country Sporting Clays was awesome, and we look forward to next year.

See you all in Tennessee!
Mark and Tim

From the Bottom of Our Hearts...

We just wanted to take a moment to thank all of the great companies and the great Patron sponsors who have supported us over the years. When we started in 2003, we had American Income Life, Fiocchi Ammunition, and Browning Firearms. It is because of these three loyal sponsors, and all of our other sponsors who have come on board since that time, that we are able to do what we do every year for all of the people in this country who are affected by these terrible diseases.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and God bless you all!

Here's to a great 2015!!

See you on the course,
Mark and Tim

Update on Hawaii Event

We wanted to let you know that sadly we won't be able to hold our shoot on the island of Lanai this season. The island is closed for the year for a total renovation. We look forward to returning there again!  In lieu of our usual event, you're invited to join Pat and UFCW Local 480 at their golf tournament on Oahu!

ANNOUNCING OUR 1st PRO STAFF MEMBER, JASON SNODDY

We're excited to announce that USPSA Production Master Jason Snoddy has joined the Shoot for a Cure team as our first PRO STAFF MEMBER! As an employee and representative of our Patron Sponsor, Kaiser Permanente, he is regular attendee of our Oregon event.   Jason will now be shooting at his USPSA matches wearing our SFAC shirt and raising awareness among the USPSA shooters about LLS and the Shoot for a Cure mission.

In 2010 Jason joined a local shooting range with the intention of taking up long range rifle shooting.  During the range safety and orientation class the speaker kept talking about the action pistol matches that were held at the range, including something about running around and shooting things. Jason's interest was instantly piqued.  A month later he attended a USPSA safety training class and a month after that attended his first match.

Jason has been shooting matches regularly since and has yet to learn long range rifle shooting.  He also enjoys shooting trap, action rifle, plus (of course!) sporting clays matches once a year when Shoot for a Cure comes to town.  Aside from shooting sports Jason also enjoys running, bodyweight training, camping, reading, fixing things around the house, and spending time with his wife and their "silly pug."  Jason says, "I am proud to represent Shoot for a Cure within the USPSA community to help raise awareness about this great organization!"

Jason, we're glad to have you!

Be sure to check out Jason's YouTube channel!

Year End "Quad Events" Recap

We've wrapped up our year ending “QUAD” of events  at Quail Point, and what an amazing way to end the season! The food from T's catering was excellent and our hats are off to Dave and Matt from Quail Point who run a first class operation and were extremely helpful and accommodating during the events.

First up was the 4th Annual LIUNA Scholarship Shoot which raised $110,000 for scholarships for children of Union members.  Then at our 6th Annual IBT MS Turkey Shoot we raised over $50,000 for Multiple Sclerosis, and at our 4th annual Knights of Columbus Wheelchair Shoot, our shooters gave the gift of mobility via 60-70 new wheelchairs for people who can't afford them. Lastly, we were honored to assist our local Assemblyman at his turkey shoot fundraiser, where the raffle, held for SFAC, enabled us to raise an additional $4000 for our Leukemia mission.

Check out event results from the whole season!

What a great time we had at our 12th annual shoot in Zamora, CA!  The targets were awesome and the food was delicious.  Plus it's always fun to see familiar faces, and we are so humbled by the continued support we see each year for LLS.  There were 128 people at this year's event, and we raised over $30,000.  Incredible!

Special thanks to Matt and Dave at Quail Point.

Keep 'Em Safe, Find a Cure

We have some big news, and do we mean BIG!  You may recall that throughout the year our friends at Stack-On Gun Safes have been collecting signatures to "Keep 'Em Safe."  For every person who took the pledge, Stack-On planned to donate $1 to us here at Shoot for a Cure.

A few weeks ago at our Chicago event, the Stack-On team joined us and surprised us by presenting us with a check for $20,000 to support everything we do.  We will be giving $10,000 directly to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and investing the other $10,000 in what keeps us up and running: our trailer.

A huge thank you to Stack-On and everyone who has supported gun safety, and us.

You can still take the pledge!
