June Sponsor Spotlight: Fiocchi

Our June Sponsor of the Month is Fiocchi Ammunition. Here is how we feel about Fiocchi, who is one of our Founding Sponsors, taken directly from their 2014 catalog:

"In our opinion, Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics is the best economical target load out there and is the official ammo of Shoot For A Cure. It is consistent, hard hitting, and clean - we very rarely have a failure. We see over 1300 shooters each year and we clean 40-60 loaner guns after each event. When you shoot as many rounds thru those guns as we do, it's nice to know that they will function for the entire event and clean up fairly easily. We rely on Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics for a great shooting experience for all of our shooters."

Many thanks to Carlo and Jackie, your continued support throughout the years means everything to us!!!

A Trip to Spring Creek Outfitters

The winner of our hunting trip raffle prize, Allan Widener, wrote us a lovely note about his trip to Spring Creek Outfitters! Read what he had to say here:

"First off THANK YOU for all you did to make my trip a memory I'll never forget by allowing me to take my dad with me. As I mentioned before he at age 72 - 73 survived lymphoma and 10 months of chemotherapy which made winning a trip with Shoot for a Cure even more meaningful.  David and Angela with Spring Creek outfitters are a 1st class operation!!! The hospitality, the food and the accommodations were perfect.  David made sure my dad's walking distances were kept to a minimum by picking him up and dropping him off at each spot. The amount of birds that we saw let alone shot were amazing in numbers. We limited out both days by lunch and in SD you can't start hunting pheasant till 10 am. The guides and the dogs David had to help with the hunt were first class as well. I told David that his yellow lab would fit perfect in my suitcase and if she didn't show for breakfast I knew nothing about her whereabouts. Speaking of breakfast, Angela out did herself with the meals she had prepared for us. From breakfast to the pheasant appetizers we got each night for supper were very tasty. We hunted the 13th and 14th of November and couldn't have asked for better weather. I have already spread the word to my hunting buddies if they need a place to hunt pheasants I have the right outfitter. Thank you again and I'll see you in Kerrville, TX later this year. Thanks again."

Big thanks to our friends at Spring Creek Outfitters. We're grateful for all you do to support us, and proud to send out shooters your way each year!

Recap: Quail Point Triple Shot Season Finale!

If it's Fall in California, that means Quail Point and our triple shot of year ending events. Up first was the NorCal LIUNA Scholarship Shoot. We had 170 shooters, two courses, and we debuted "THE WORLD FAMOUS SHOOT FOR A CURE SUPER FLURRY!" When all was said and done, it looks like we will net $135,000 for children's scholarships. Special thanks to Anthony Dimas and his staff, and Road Trip Bar & Grill for their fantastic lunch.

Next up was the Northern California Leukemia event. We had 100 shooters and it looks like we will net $35,000 for Leukemia research. Special thanks to our hosts, UFCW 8-Golden State and Chuck Hill and the staff from AIL. The Saag's Sausages and the pies from "Ruth The Pie Lady" were delicious as per usual!

Last but certainly not least was the IBT MS Shoot Out. We had 115 shooters and it looks like we will net $57,000 for MS research. Many thanks to our hosts Rome Aloise from Teamsters 853 and JC7, Janine Vanier, and the NorCal staff from the National MS Society.

See the scores from all three events here!

A very, very special thanks to Dave and Matt from Quail Point. Their professionalism, great targets, and hospitality make it very easy for us to end our year on such a high note.

At the end of another record setting season, I would like to take a moment to throw a special shout out to our dedicated Shoot for a Cure instructors and volunteers. Our fundraising efforts would not be where they are today without our amazing crew. Words can't express how I feel about each and every one of you.

Thank you so much, and we all look forward to 2016!

See you on the course,
Mark

Recap: 8th Annual Midway Shoot - Dundee, IL (Chicago)

Midway shoot 2015: Max McGraw Wildlife Preservation Society + 136 registered shooters + the Crazy Quail +  the XRAIL shotgun system = nothing but a good time! Once again we rolled into the great state of Illinois and the folks there did not disappoint! We had some really good shooters with some really high scores, and in the end we will raise somewhere between $35,000 and $40,000 for Leukemia. A very special thanks goes out to Georgia Hooker and Jaime Martinez, both from the GWC law firm, without whose help this event would not be the success that it is. We were hosted again this year by Mike Carrigan from the IL AFL-CIO and Lou Cairo from the GWC law firm. The food was excellent and the staff at Max McGraw was top notch once again. We can’t wait till next year!

Recap: 7th Annual Great Lakes Shoot Bellefontaine, OH

Even though it was an overcast day in Belfontaine, OH, it did not dampen the spirits of our small but loyal group of shooters. The targets were interesting and the food, as always, from Vic’s Country Cookin, was excellent. We were hosted once again by UFCW Locals 75 and 1059. Special thanks to Tom Bierman from Local 75 and Tony from Mad River Sportsman’s Club. It looks like we will net close to $30,000 for Leukemia.

Check out the scores and the pictures from our Ohio event!
