First Half Round-Up

In April, we kicked off our year in Texas and had a great event in College Station. Many thanks to all of the UFCW locals in Region 5 for their support! We raised just over $20,000 and we will be back next year. We also will be adding a new event in Tennessee next year between the TX and GA event-stay tuned for more details.

May 12th saw us in Crawfordville, Ga at the British American Sporting Club for our SE event. Many thanks to the GA AFL-CIO and the Atlanta and Savannah CLC's for their support. Once again, the food was awesome and John Higgin's course was a nice change of venue for this event.

Also in May, we added one more new sponsor,
Spring Creek SD Outfitters; who are providing 5 star pheasant hunts in South Dakota for each of our raffles this year. Many thanks to David Healan, our good buddy at Spring Creek. We appreciate the support!

Earlier this month, we did back to back events-first the NE shoot in Coplay, PA and then two days later in Clinton, NY for the NY shoot. In PA, NASCAR's Ryan Newman joined us as our special guest and gave away a dozen race tickets and pit passes for the Pennsylvania 500. Three lucky SFAC participants got to shoot-off against Ryan for the tickets and a great time was had by all!

Here's a pic of Ryan posing with the SFAC crew after the event.

New York was a nice break for the crew as we all got to shoot in the tournament as well! Many thanks to Ray Majka and the Clinton Fish and Game Club for their hospitality.

I have some new pics from this year's first couple of events. I know, I know, I promise, I'll try to get some uploaded soon. Midwest, here we come!

2011 Season Kick-Off

In 2011, we welcome some new sponsors: LIUNA International Union, OPEIU International Union, Blue Rock Advisors, Graystone Consulting/Dobbs Group, Benesys Administrators, Investment Performance Services, Buck Knives, Howard Leight, ESEE Knives and Jordan's Taxidermy. We will kick off our season on April 28th in College Station, TX and roll on to Georgia in May. Please check back on the schedule page, I am working on two more new events: one in SoCal and one in Montana.

The Shot Show was a big success for our program this year. We have two limited edition knives, a Laporte clay thrower and a $5,400 Zoli shotgun that we will be featuring in our big yearly raffle. Thanks to Remington, Beretta, Browning, Winchester and Zoli, we will have some new shotguns on the trailer this year for people to shoot. Yamaha has also graciously upgraded our quad to the new 450 EPS 4x4 and we will be putting it through the paces at clubs all across the country. All participants this year will receive a USA made Buck knife with their paid registration. Howard Leight has become our official "eye and ear sponsor" and donated some great shooter's muffs, ESEE has provided us with some nice Mil Spec survival knives and finally, my good friend, Marc Jordan, from Jordan's Taxidermy in Pennsylvania, will be providing some free deer or turkey mounts for our raffle as well. As always, we will be raffling off a nice semi-auto shotgun along with the usual items at each event, so BUY LOTS OF TICKETS!!!

I uploaded some new photos from last year's events, so check 'em out. I'm still missing Chicago and Hawaii. When I get a chance, I'll  add them to the mix as well.

See you on the road!!! - Mark

2010 Wrap-up

Despite a long and very trying year for all of us here in the United States, Shoot For A Cure managed to raise $230,500 for Leukemia and MS research! We started with a bang in Las Vegas and ended with a bang in Hawaii. I would personally like to thank our crew and our host organizations at each event-everyone went above and beyond in 2010. Please check back for some new photos from last year's events.

See you next time!!! - Mark
